Located at the quiet end of Curtain Road, bordering The City and cool Shoreditch, is the charming Horse and Groom pub, or The Disco Pub, as it is fondly known in clubland circles . The Horse and Groom’s history dates back to the beginning of the 1800’s, at a time when Britain was preparing for an invasion from Napoleon. This cosy East End boozer was built over the remains of the Curtain Theatre that, almost 300 years previously, had been the stage where Shakespeare himself acted and Romeo & Juliet and Henry V were first played. The Curtain’s exact location was unknown until recent excavations by the Museum of London found it under our feet! The Horse & Groom is, once again, the place for great entertainment, now established as one of the leading contemporary music destinations in the area. Top acts have played the Horse and Groom, including Greg Wilson, Todd Terje, M.K, Dimitri from Paris and Fabric resident Craig Richards. The venue hosts cutting edge parties that rival many bigger London clubs, with a 4am license to boot! The Horse and Groom is quietly coming to the forefront of an ever growing East London cultural scene .
Whilst the regular weekend parties, with international DJs and cutting edge music, continue, the Horse and Groom has undertaken a major refurbishment making it an even more enchanting place to while away any lunchtime or evening.
